Model Fiesta

I have to say that I love scale modeling. I picked it up around the age of 8 with just glue, styrene, and a brush. As a child in a larger family, I couldn't really afford the good stuff to make them look great and the hobby left me in highschool. It wasn't until just a few years ago that I made enough income to support myself and do it right.

Case in point, my F-14A Jolly Roger

Last Saturday, I competed for the first time in a model show. I figured it would be a good experience to keep my creative skills fresh and competitive. After attending a show last year, I promised to get something in. Now I've noticed how the average age of a scale modeler hovers around a 55 year old retired military description who has most likely built models for decades.  They are DAMN good too. I didn't think I stood any chance but I still gave it a try.

Boy, I was wrong. I think I'll go for broke next year. :D
